Unmet Expectations

Jesus has established who He is as the promised Messiah, the Christ. Now Jesus lays out the true reality of what it means to be His disciple. Dietrich Bonhoeffer pointedly described Jesus’ call to follow Him saying, “When Christ calls a man He bids Him come and die.” Jesus’ call to be His disciple requires all of our life to be surrendered to His will.
